Our 2017 Winter Carnival Queen was born and raised in Queens, New York. She moved to Saranac Lake in the early 1980’s to be near her children. She received the “Distinguish Community Leader” award from the Girl Scouts of New York in 2013, for demonstrating outstanding contributions over a period of time to her community as a role model, community leader and mentor.
Her volunteering includes: Adirondack Medical Center Gift Shop, High Peaks Hospice, Saranac Lake Youth Center, Methodist Church Wednesday Night Community Dinner, Saranac Lake Adult Center, Vermontville Food Pantry, Pendragon Volunteer, Saranac Lake Winter Carnival Judge and Headquarters Volunteer, Bloomingdale Fire Department Auxiliary, Literacy Volunteer – Franklin and Essex County and Bloomingdale School Reading Program.
She is involved as a member of many Organizational Boards: Senior Overlook Apartments, Treasurer for Bloomingdale Methodist Church and Saranac Lake Adult Center.
Her first job here in Saranac Lake was with the Hotel Saranac Bake Shop. She worked very closely with many Paul Smith’s College students. Ten years before retiring she was promoted to Baker. She is the very proud Mother of 5 children, Marlene, Marc, Rhonda, Jon and Caroleigh, a proud grandmother to 12 Grand Children, and 7 Great Grand Children.
